The National Endowment for the Arts is promoting its "Big Read" at the moment, and The Mate and I have decided to work our way through their reading list this summer. We plan to re-read those we've already read, somewhere back in high school or college or grad school, and just work our way through the list alphabetically.
First item: In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez.

I'm interested in reading some of these books AND I'm looking to build my summer reading list. I may join you on some of these books. I already have a bunch of YA and child lit on my list - but that is more quasi-professional than it is for 'me'.
ReplyDelete"Their Eyes Were Watching God" is already on my list, but I don't think I could stomach another round of Hemingway or Steinbeck. Reading those guys once was MORE than enough for me!
